Mr President,

You and your followers have forced upon the people your vision of state run health care, you have locked the citizens away from their National Parks, Monuments and Treasures while at the same time opening the National Mall to non citizens so they may make demands of us. You have defrauded the families of fallen soldiers the benefits they were promised and have decided to govern with only the consensus of the extremists in your party. You seemingly take delight in pitting the good people of this country against each other, the contempt you and your opponents in government have for one another has set a poor example of conduct and society in general has followed your lead. Contrary to your promises we have become a nation divided, respect for differing points of view is almost non existent, the media has become little more than your personal propaganda machine, and though you act as though those of us who will not support your agenda have no place here understand this; we refuse to be either party's useful idiots and we're growing in number, refugees from both parties, driven away from the droning of the party machines by common sense, who recognize the need to return to the founding principals of this great nation, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, limited government, personal responsibility and the golden rule. This great republic deserves better than to be ruled by the fringes of either party, we are coming.

The survivor mind

One of the most important things taught in wilderness survival training is to keep a positive mental attitude (PMA) it's what drives those in difficult situations to survive when others become victims, PMA is not trying to convince yourself of something unrealistic, that only leads to disappointment (or worse), instead it's a mental toughness that gives you the ability to look past the current situation to the time when it will be in the past, the victim mind sees the hopelessness, the impossibility, the survivor knows this is temporary. The same holds true for everyday life, the survivor can look beyond his circumstance while the victim looks for someone or something to blame for his, some people are raised from childhood to be victims, mainly because society keeps trying to tell them it's not their fault when things go wrong, and their parents refuse to lead by example, they grow up with resentment because of the problems they have and the things they don't, but because they only see their problems and remember the "it's not your fault" lie they become paralyzed and feel they cant do anything to change, victim think can corrode into criminal actions, when they feel justified taking the things that society has kept from them, just four words separate the victim from the survivor..."this too will pass" you may or may not be rich but you will survive.

shades of gray

John Adams said "our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people, it is wholly inadequate to the government of any other" but things are different now, society has decided we have a right not to be offended, we need to be "tolerant" and "inclusive" of every ones views, so the narrow minded black and white, right and wrong thinking is being replaced by the enlightenment of "live and let live" dull gray. So everyone lived happily ever after, right? Wrong. Adams meant that our Republic was designed for a people that could regulate themselves, right and wrong is an important concept, when taught to our youth, it stays with them all their life, it's how we learn to treat one another and what keeps our society stable, but when we allow "every man to think he is right in his own mind" the borders of good conduct become blurred, and like teens who refuse to grow up we hand over the responsibility of setting borders to our lawmakers, and they love their jobs, they make laws and laws to regulate the laws they made, then the children who live under the law (us) think we can do what we want as long as we stay inside the boundaries set by big brother, see where I'm going? Because we threw away the concept of right and wrong we have become a morally stunted people, when once business men made agreements on a handshake, we now need lawyers to draw up contracts, once a mans word was his bond, now when you get screwed it's your fault for trusting a liar, where once we had free speech, now you better not offend someone with what you say or you might be guilty of a hate crime, once high school kids brought their 22 rifles to school because they were part of the school rifle team, now, well your goin to jail. Fathers, Mothers, take your children back, teach them to love their neighbors as themselves and they wont need government telling them how to behave, a civilized society depends on YOU!

pride

the bible cautions us of the sinfulness of pride, but what does that mean? The way I see it there are two kinds of pride, legitimate and illegitimate, legit pride is a healthy thing, it's good to feel proud of a job well done, whether it's business, academic, arts, competition, or your craft, you should strive to do well, remember, when your gone it's the only thing others who never knew you will judge you by, and I can tell you from much experience, the accomplishment your feeling will help motivate you when you fail, and trust me you will fail. But there's the other type of pride, a self righteous pride that God says he hates, when we think of self righteousness images of snobbery and elitism come to mind, but there's a much more common self righteousness that we have accepted as a society, it starts when we are children, and were told to be proud of our race  (unless you have the misfortune of being born white, then your taught to feel guilt) or being female, or gay, just being born the right color/sex/etc. is not an accomplishment, you had nothing to do with it, it may be a point of pride for your parents but society wants you to believe your important (which you are but not for those reasons) so they whisper lies to you, that kind of worthless pride cant motivate you to excellence! When I was about 9 years old I entered a model car contest, I loved cars and building models, thought I was pretty good at it, when the day of judgment came I watched as the judges immediately began placing white "participation" ribbons on the entries they eliminated out of hand, when they came to mine my heart pounded hoping they would walk by but, the white ribbon landed on mine as well, it was crushing and i felt shame, after the event I didn't even want to pick it up, but I forced myself to, on the way out I tossed the car and the junk ribbon in the trash outside the door, it hurt but it made me stronger. Sons and daughters set the bar higher for yourself, devote yourself to the things you love and excel at it, in doing so you'll enrich your life and make the world a better place, failure is part of success, Thomas Edison was once asked how it felt to fail 1000 times while working on the light bulb, his answer, "I didn't fail, it was an invention that took 1000 steps"

birth of a great nation

when the founders declared independence from England they knew they were committing high treason as they signed their name to that document, they also knew they were declaring war on the worlds superpower, what they could not have known was the outcome of this bold decision, there was a much greater chance of failure than success, and many colonists wanted no part of a revolution, the status quo was the easy road. I wonder how they would be remembered today had the revolution failed, would they be called insurgents? terrorists? traitors?  We are blessed to live in this great country because good men refused to live in tyranny and had the grit and resolve to fight. Ask yourself, if today was then would you have been a loyalist or patriot? How many of the leaders you elected would have stood shoulder to shoulder with the brave men on the firing line?
